Siti Si Vampir Uses Vampire Satire to Explore Poverty and Social Inequality

JAKARTA, STUPA NEWS — Poverty and social inequality are at the centre of Siti Si Vampir, a satirical comedy directed by Rahabi Mandra that is scheduled to open in Indonesian cinemas on October 22, 2026.

Starring Satine Zaneta, the film uses the world of vampires as a metaphor for the divide between low-income communities and privileged elites. It follows Siti, a young woman faced with difficult choices when an opportunity to change her circumstances comes at a significant personal cost.

Siti lives in a low-cost apartment complex with her father, played by Nugie, who works as a water-gallon delivery worker to support the family. Amid financial hardship, she discovers an opportunity to enter the world of vampires, which promises a better life but requires her to leave part of her human existence behind.

The conflict escalates when Siti's apartment complex becomes a target for vampires. She must decide whether to accept the existing system or fight back to protect the people around her.

Director Rahabi Mandra approaches economic hardship and social inequality through comedy rather than treating them solely as serious drama. Siti's relationship with her father forms a central part of the story as her ambitions collide with family ties and the sacrifices required to change her future.

Producer Kenny Png said the film explores class struggles and the meaning of success within family life. Producer Celerina Judisari said the combination of humour and emotional storytelling was intended to offer audiences a different perspective on everyday challenges.

The film also examines social media culture through Stella, played by Shania Gracia, a character who seeks fame and public recognition. Her storyline touches on the growing tendency to display one's lifestyle online in pursuit of attention and validation.

For Satine, the role marks a departure from her previous appearances in action and horror films. She takes on a comedy-drama character, adapting her acting style and using a distinctive dialect to reflect Siti's social environment.

The cast also includes Ajil Ditto, Ciccio Manassero, Nugie, Shania Gracia and Kimberly Ryder.

Siti Si Vampir is produced by Viddsee and Bahagia Tanpa Drama in collaboration with AZ Films, Spectrum Film and PK Films. The film is scheduled for release in Indonesian cinemas on October 22, 2026. (AIKO)
