Indonesia, Türkiye Agree on 2026–2027 Labor Cooperation Action Plan

JAKARTA, July 24 — Indonesia and Türkiye have agreed on a 2026–2027 Joint Action Plan to strengthen bilateral cooperation in labor affairs, including labor market policy, digital employment services, occupational safety and health, and vocational training.
The agreement was reached during the First Joint Working Commission (JWC) meeting in Jakarta on Friday, attended by Indonesia's Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, and Türkiye's Minister of Labour and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the First Joint Working Commission, marking the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on labor cooperation signed by the two countries in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November 2023.
Yassierli said the agreement reflects both countries' commitment to translating diplomatic ties into practical programs that support a more inclusive, adaptive, and resilient labor market while addressing global employment challenges.
Under the Joint Action Plan, Indonesia and Türkiye will cooperate on labor market policy development, the digitalization of employment services, occupational safety and health (OSH), and the implementation of joint international projects.
A key focus of the discussions was Indonesia's interest in learning from Türkiye's Model Factory initiative as part of efforts to modernize the country's vocational training centers.
The Model Factory program in Türkiye combines workforce training with consultancy services for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), helping businesses improve productivity through lean manufacturing principles.
Indonesia has proposed expanding cooperation through knowledge-sharing programs and technical collaboration so that its vocational training centers can serve not only as workforce development institutions but also as innovation and productivity hubs supporting local industries and SMEs.
Yassierli said Indonesia views Türkiye's successful Model Factory initiative as a valuable reference for accelerating the transformation of its vocational training system and strengthening the country's skilled workforce.(Jamil)
