Cartenz Peace Task Force Conducts Community Patrol in Puncak Jaya

PUNCAK JAYA, Indonesia — Personnel from the Cartenz Peace Operation 2026 Task Force conducted a foot patrol in Puncak Jaya Regency, Central Papua, on Saturday, combining security monitoring with direct engagement with local residents.

The patrol, led by Puncak Jaya Sector Commander AKP I Putu Wardana, involved officers speaking with residents to gather information on local security conditions and public order. The personnel also interacted with schoolchildren returning home, reflecting the operation's community-oriented approach.

Head of the Cartenz Peace Operation, Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani, said the patrol was part of broader efforts to maintain security while strengthening communication with local communities.

"Direct interaction allows our personnel to receive information and feedback from residents about conditions in their neighborhoods. Such communication is an important element in supporting a safe and stable public security environment," Faizal said in a statement.

Deputy Head of the operation, Senior Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, said the task force would continue prioritizing dialogue to foster trust between security personnel and local communities.

He said officers were not only focused on maintaining security but also on providing residents with opportunities to share information and concerns about their surroundings.

A local resident, Markus Wenda, welcomed the initiative, saying the officers' willingness to speak directly with residents and interact with children was appreciated.

The Cartenz Peace Operation is an Indonesian police-led security operation in Papua that combines law enforcement with community engagement. Authorities said the security situation in Puncak Jaya remained stable throughout the patrol, with residents continuing their daily activities as usual. (Gusti)
