Sukabumi Education Official Urges Non-Formal Schools to Strengthen Administration

SUKABUMI, Indonesia, Aug 23, 2026 — An education official in Sukabumi, West Java, has urged non-formal education institutions to strengthen administrative practices and the management of government funding to support improvements in education quality.

Cecep Supriadi, head of early childhood and non-formal education at the Sukabumi district education office, made the call during a visit to the LSI Community Learning Centre (PKBM) in Langensari village on Sunday.

The visit brought Cecep together with administrators and members of the LSI education centre as part of a regular Sunday programme.

"We expect institutions under non-formal education supervision to become more solid and to prioritize proper administration, both in learning activities and in managing government funds provided through BOSP," Cecep said.

He said non-formal education institutions needed to maintain orderly and transparent management so that learning programmes and the use of public funds could be carried out in accordance with regulations.

Cecep also called on institutions under the non-formal education programme to improve their performance and contribute to the development of education in Sukabumi.

R. Iyan Sapta, head of the LSI Community Learning Centre, welcomed the visit, saying direct communication between education officials and non-formal education providers was important.

"We thank Head of Non-Formal Education Cecep Supriadi for taking the time to visit and meet with the LSI education community," Iyan said.

The visit coincided with the centre's regular Sunday meeting and learning activities.

The LSI centre was also supporting local residents in Kampung Legoksirna, Langensari village, who were holding celebrations marking Indonesia's 81st Independence Day.

Residents had organised various competitions for children and adults since the previous week. The celebrations are scheduled to conclude with a traditional pole-climbing competition and several children's events.

Yopi Sulaiman, chairman of a consumer protection organisation and an adviser to a press-company organisation, welcomed Cecep's approach, saying closer engagement with education providers could help strengthen non-formal education in Sukabumi.

He said education authorities should combine a community-oriented approach with measurable discipline in managing non-formal education institutions. (R-01)
