Residents in Soppeng Complain of Delays in Land Certificate Processing

STUPA NEWS ■ SOPPENG — Residents of Soppeng Regency in Indonesia's South Sulawesi province have raised concerns over delays in the processing of inheritance and land subdivision certificates, saying applications have yet to be completed despite the submission of required documents.

One resident, identified as Daeng, said documents that had previously been accepted as the basis for issuing an original land certificate were later subjected to additional administrative requirements when submitted for the transfer of ownership to heirs.

"We hope residents can obtain clearer guidance and a more efficient process in securing their land certificates," Daeng said on Monday.

The residents also called on the Soppeng regional administration to help facilitate communication with the local Land Office to improve the efficiency of land administration services.

As of Monday, the head of the Soppeng Land Office and the South Sulawesi Regional Office of Indonesia's Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) had not responded to requests for comment on the complaints.

Indonesia has in recent years sought to modernize its land administration system through digital services and accelerated land certification programs aimed at improving legal certainty over land ownership.( Rasyid Munandar)
