Indonesian Soldier Wins Gold at Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championship


STUPA NEWS ■ JAKARTA — Indonesian Army soldier Sergeant Muhammad Raihan Fadhila won the men's under-80 kg kyorugi gold medal at the 8th Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championship 2026 after defeating India's Akshay Hooda in the final at the Gelora Bung Karno Indoor Tennis Stadium in Jakarta on Monday.

Hooda took the silver medal, while Kazakhstan's Abdurakhmon Matipov and Indonesia's Edgar Sastama shared the bronze medals.

The victory added to Indonesia's medal tally at the international taekwondo tournament, which brought together athletes from several Asian countries.

The 8th Asian Taekwondo Indonesia Open Championship 2026 was held as part of events marking the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), combining international competition with efforts to promote sporting ties among participating nations.(Gusti Haes)
